Tender description

Nuclear Safety Case Support is required by RWM to support two key areas of engineering feasibility for a GDF related to External Hazards. Firstly, to support engineering studies on resilience to climate change, Safety Case input is required to define safety requirements for external hazards which could be exacerbated by climate change. This will provide the focus of the engineering studies on the feasibility of mitigation measures. Once mitigation measures to withstand the relevant external hazards have been developed, these can be incorporated into the relevant safety case databases to support the high-level claim that it is feasible that a GDF can tolerate design basis external hazards. This work will inform aspects of the GDF Site Evaluation process. Second, supporting engineering work on the feasibility of a coastal located GDF, Safety Case support is required to further define safety requirements for external hazards which could impact a GDF located on the coast. Further work will be required to understand the mitigation measures required for a coastal GDF to ensure defence against external hazards. This will ensure that any claims made are robustly backed up to demonstrate that it is both feasible and safe to operate a GDF in a coastal location. Prospective suppliers are invited to note the particular requirements of the attached Technical Specification. Prospective suppliers' teams are required to be proficient in Nuclear Safety Case delivery, requirements management and project management in order to deliver the work. Prospective suppliers are required to be conversant with RWM processes and procedures for Nuclear Safety Case delivery and be able to execute the work in the allotted timescales without training or supervision. It should be of particular note that this work will involve working in databases and developing a data architecture to interface between the safety case and design and requirements (following specific guidance given by RWM at project initiation).
