Policy decisions made today have long term consequences. However, the future in which these decisions have an impact is uncertain, which makes these decisions difficult. Conducting Futures work means thinking about how the future might turn out and developing policies and strategies that are agile and better suited to a variety of possible futures. To do this requires resources, collating different perspectives, and knowledgeable experts to guide people through the process. This Framework will be a register of approved Futures practitioners from which HMG departments and agencies can quickly, and at low cost, identify and procure futures capability development and futures services; ultimately creating better connections with external Futures advice and building a stronger UK network of Futures practitioners within government.
