Repair and maintenance services of gas meters

Wales and West Utilities (WWU) seeks contact with suitably qualified and experienced suppliers who may be able to deliver an emergency gas escape service. WWU covers 2 500 000 homes (7 500 000 people) and businesses in Wales and the South West of England (https://www.wwutilities.co.uk/) and responds to 90 000 gas emergencies a year, within 1 hour of reporting to the National Gas Emergency number (https://www.wwutilities.co.uk/services/smell-gas/). The service is currently delivered via an in-house team of 266 first call operatives (FCOs). The FCO must attend and ensure the gas leak is made safe for people and property. WWU is beginning a “pre-market engagement” to establish the size and capability of the market to deliver the gas emergency service (and other elements of our current direct labour organisation).
