Tender description

Christ the Word Catholic School opens in a 23 000 000 GBP new build in September 2019. The school will be for 3 — 16 age range and replaces the 2 existing Catholic schools In Rhyl, Blessed Edward Jones Catholic High School and Ysgol Mair. We are seeking an independent provider of all year wrap around care, 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. based in a purpose built room in the main school building. The provision will include breakfast club, preschool provision/early years education in the playgroup and afterschool care. We are proud of our Catholic ethos and our Welsh identity. Both the existing schools have a very strong community focus and this is a key aspect for the new school also. As a Catholic school there is an emphasis on faith and the well-being of learners, staff and families. Christ the Word Catholic School opens in a 23 000 000 GBP new build in September 2019. As a Catholic school there is an emphasis on faith and the well-being of learners, staff and families. The school is voluntary aided, with support from the Wrexham Diocese and Denbighshire County Council. Rhyl is a diverse seaside community, with a well-established local population plus a transient population of seasonal workers and others from disadvantaged backgrounds based in the town on temporary housing basis. The school community is one of the most deprived in Wales with 37 % of the children eligible for free school meals. This is a Flying Start Area. The new building is due for completion and handover on 14.8.2019. This will be the first phase of the construction and work on site will continue during the school year 2019 – 2020. There will be sufficient access to outdoor space during this period with the final completion of the enhanced outdoor facilities by September 2020. Potential providers are welcome to visit the site and to see the plans for the completed provision. There is ample additional space available within the building and it will be possible to take advantage of this if required.
