1-846 Roundabouts RAD Research and Update

Tender description

Highways England is seeking the provision of services to undertake research into specific elements of the geometric design standards for roundabouts and investigate elements of the matters arising during the 2020 DMRB update of the Roundabout RADs. It is hoped that the research outputs will be used to enhance, amend or supersede relevant parts of the following Design Manual for Roads and Bridges (DMRB) documents as denoted below; 1. CD 116 'Geometric Design of Roundabouts', 2. CD 116 England NAA 'Geometric Design of Roundabouts England's National Application Annex', 3. CD 116 Scotland NAA 'Geometric Design of Roundabouts Scotland's National Application Annex', 4. CD 116 Wales NAA 'Geometric Design of Roundabouts Wales's National Application Annex', and, 5. CD 116 Northern Ireland NAA 'Geometric Design of Roundabouts Northern Ireland's Application Annex'. Any recommended and approved updates to CD 116 and its associated NAAs will be based on literature reviews, research conducted, agreement of the Standing Road Layout Technical Project Board (TPB) members and discussions with external bodies, and quantitate/qualitative assessments and analysis.
