Waste Compositional Analysis

Tender description

Wigan Council is seeking a specialist research or consultancy organisation to undertake a waste compositional study for the borough. The tender opportunity is divided into two LOTS: Kerbside Collected Waste (LOT1) and Household Waste Recycling Centre Waste (LOT 2). As background, Wigan Council operate a four stream kerbside waste collection comprising: paper/card; commingled recycling; co-collected food/garden waste; and, residual waste. The food/garden waste is collected every two weeks, and the remainder are collected on a three weekly rota. Wigan Council operates 3 household waste recycling centres. The Kerbside Waste Compositional Study will involve determining the composition of the residual and green/food waste only. An option to sort all the kerbside wastes should also be provided, which will be taken forward if it is within the budget envelope. The Household Waste Recycling Centre study (LOT 2) will involve determining the composition of the residual waste at our three sites. The expected number of samples, and sampling areas is stipulated in the tender, as well as further details regarding project management, sorting, and reporting requirements and social value.
