Tender description

The objective of this project is to replace existing wet film safety camera technology with a digital average speed enforcement system, in order to enforce the speed limit on the C233 Charlton Road and A24 Ewell Bypass. These sites has been determined by the Drive Smart Partnership (Surrey County Council Road Safety and Active Travel Team and Surrey Police) as a high priority for upgrade, particularly following a recent collision that resulted in a fatality at the Charlton Road site. The cameras will be serviced and calibrated as part of a "pay as you go" contract that falls outside of this procurement exercise. Lot 1 is for the provision of an average speed system to provide enforcement of the 30mph speed limit in both the northbound and southbound directions of the C233 Charlton Road. Lot 2 is for the provision of an average speed system to provide enforcement of the 40mph speed limit in both the northbound and southbound directions of the A24 Ewell Bypass.
