Tender description

To design, manufacture, and deliver, a lockable system on approximately 1264 cab doors, plus spares, across 7 different rolling stocks on London Underground. The end solution is likely to be a handle with a cover flap with a magnetic or solenoid lock. This contract opportunity is to design, manufacture, and supply a lockable system that is capable to be fitted to all 7 passenger fleets within London Underground (approximately 1264 cab doors). Installation requirements: There may be a requirement for the contracted entity to install one or more prototypes. However, the main installation is excluded from this scope of works. There may be a requirement to support installation or other technical support for the duration of the install. Process: At this time London Underground are seeking to engage with interested parties prior to a call for competition to better understand the market capabilities and what is reasonable and feasible. It is advised that all interested parties register on Transport for London's tendering portal, ProContract, which can be found at the following web address: https://procontract.due-north.com. Please note that this Prior Information Notice (PIN) is not a call for competition. The Contracting Authority is acting as a central purchasing body on behalf of itself (all members of the TfL group of companies) and the Greater London Authority and its other functional bodies. Any of these bodies may award a contract to the successful bidder substantially on the terms of the contract awarded by the Contracting Authority (if any). Further information on TfL may be found at www.tfl.gov.uk. The Contracting Authority reserves the right to award the contract in whole or in part or not at all as a result of any call for competition. The Contracting Authority shall not be liable for any costs or expenses incurred by any bidders in responding to this notice or in tendering for the proposed contract(s). The Contracting Authority may interview or call any or all companies who express an interest in tendering for this work. Applicants should note that notwithstanding previous registration on TfL’s list of vendors they must re-apply if they wish to be considered for the scheme advertised. This PIN is issued solely for the purposes of the market engagement. No information contained in this PIN, or provided during and for the market engagement exercise, constitutes any commitment by TfL or any member of the TfL group or any of its or their stakeholders to undertake any procurement exercise in the future.
