Tender description

Revenue Maritime Unit Revenue’s Maritime Unit plays an integral part in carrying out the above functions. The unit consists of two Customs Cutters, RCC Suirbhéir and RCC Faire. These two vessels patrol Ireland’s coastline and adjacent waters on a 24 hour basis/365 days a year. The crew of these vessels are highly trained and have expertise to search all types of vessels. The main objective of the Revenue Maritime Unit is the prevention, detection, interception and seizure of controlled drugs, fiscal goods, ammunition, arms, prohibited and restricted goods smuggled or illegally imported into the State or intended to be exported out of the State or the European Union. Summary of Requirements Tenders are sought by the Office of the Revenue Commissioners for the Supply and Installation of 2 (two) Fixed Mount Forward Looking Infra-Red (FLIR) Marine Thermal Image Cameras. As the Cutters patrol Ireland’s territorial waters on a 24/7 basis, modern technology plays a major part in their safe navigation and the execution of their enforcement role. A major benefit to each of the two Cutters would be a FLIR (Forward Looking Infrared camera)/Marine Thermal Image Camera. Such maritime thermal imagers display the invisible heat energy from a myriad of potential hazards, including floating debris, shipping lane traffic, vessels at anchor, and small boats. These cameras would also support enhanced risk assessment, surveillance and vessel traffic monitoring of vessels at night. These cameras would also support the Cutters secondary role of search and rescue to locate individuals in the water or vessels in distress.
