Tender description

The Marine Institute requires a single point consultancy to design and oversee the construction of a new small external workshop/storage building (circa 25m x 10m) at our facility in Newport, Co. Mayo. There are two existing buildings that may be incorporated into the final design of the new build. The facility is required to accommodate the operational and maintenance needs of the scientific and field staff to commission/test field equipment, repair equipment & boat engines as well as providing storage for a forklift and racked area for nets and large palletised gear, materials and equipment. It is envisaged a hoist will be provided to lift heavy engines off the boats for maintenance, along with running water and 3 Phase power supply. There is no IT/data cabling requirement for this build. The remit of the single point consultancy is to design the workshop/storage building in consultation with staff based in Newport. This is an essential phase of the project as there are several different end users whose needs must be met in the final design. Once the design has been finalised, it will be the responsibility of the contractor to; secure all statutory permissions, prepare/advertise the construction tender documents in line with government procurement practices (on www.etenders.gov.ie), award the contract in line with Marine Institute procurement rules, manage the construction budget and oversee all build works to completion stage, whilst meeting all statutory obligations/certifications.
