Tender description

Durham Universities' Estates and Facilities Department will be coordinating a contract that can facilitate marquees for different events, based on 3 lots. To facilitate these events Durham University require the successful supplier(s) to supply and install suitable clear span frame pavilions for the purposes of holding these prestigious events. University wide requirements (Congregation, VC Garden Party, College Requirements, etc.) and build these into a multi-lot contract based on: Lot 1: Congregation; Lot 2: Executive Marquee (Garden Party); Lot 3: College/General. It is the intention of the University to have a single supplier awarded to each lot of the contract. The University reserves the right to appoint more than 1 Lots to the same supplier, subject to the outcome of the tender evaluation. Durham University's Accommodation and Commercial Services have a requirement for the provision of marquee hire for its annual graduation award ceremony held during June each year at Durham Cathedral. Approximately 5 000 students graduate each summer, with 4 ceremonies each day over a 5 day period. The marquee is used before and after ceremonies, hosting celebratory refreshments and graduation photography, as well as the opportunity to purchase University memorabilia and merchandise. Detailed information on the requirement can be found in the tender documents. Each year, the University takes the opportunity to celebrate the achievements and activities from that academic year, including its continued success in the University league tables. The University Vice-Chancellor, Professor Stuart Corbridge hosts over 250 guests at Hollingside House, including students, alumni, staff and stakeholders, to thank them for their contribution to the University. This lot of the contract is for the provision of an executive class marquee which will play host the above event. Throughout the academic year, a number of colleges and/or departments may have requirements for the provision of marquee hire. These requirements are classed as general hire and do not require the bespoke or niche requirements of Lots 1 and 2 respectively.
