Tender description

The works comprise external works at five villages in the Ballymena area, Grange, Cloney, Hillstown, Cullybackey and Glenravel. At Grange, a small community garden is to be constructed on a small area of existing open space at the entrance to Moorland housing area. Here the works includes site clearance, earthworks, concrete block paving), street furniture provision and tree and shrub planting works. At Cloney, environmental improvements to the road and car park frontage are planned. Works include new mild steel fencing and tree and shrub planting. At Hillstown, the project is the construction of a bus pull in space adjacent to the Whitesides Road. Here the works includes the excavation and removal of a section of the existing road verge, kerbing, bitmac and asphalt surfacing works, thermoplastic line markings and provision of signage. At Cullybackey, an area of outdoor fitness equipment is to be provided off the existing riverside path between Cullybackey and Galgorm Manor. This will involve site excavation and disposal, steel edging, supply and installation of a co-ordinated range of outdoor fitness equipment, wet pour safety surfacing and timber fencing. Elsewhere a General Information sign, 4 Interpretation Panels, 5 Nr. Finger Posts and 6 Nr. Tree plaques are to be provided at various ;locations along the riverside walk. These are all be to be timber and part of a co-ordinated range of street furniture. At Glenravel, a new section of Greenway (an off-road footpath) is to be constructed. This project is by far the largest of the five village projects within the tender. The greenway will commence at Glenravel Chapel and end at Con Magee’s GAC car park, a distance of approximately 2.5Km.
