Tender description

The provision of architect-led project team services including principle designer, MEP services engineering, structural engineering, quantity surveying and for the design of facilities on the ground floor of Dundee Science Centre. Dundee Science Centre (DSC) operates as a leading visitor attraction, educational facility and community resource for the Tay Area. DSC engages 80 000 people each year through its interactive science exhibitions, hands-on workshops and events for the public community, schools, further/higher education and industry. DSC has grown and expanded its services for the community since opening 19 years ago. In 2018, DSC launched its new first-floor facilities that include a new Medical Marvels exhibition and a Science Learning Suite. Having completed the first-floor upgrade and expansion, DSC is now seeking to redevelop its existing ground-floor facilities — including the entrance foyer (100 m2), coffee shop seating area (175 m2), auditorium (70 m2) and exhibition areas (340 m2) — to make them more accessible and inspiring for its diverse visitors. It is important DSC remains operational throughout the works. Careful consideration and robust programming and coordination will be required to ensure the science centre’s general operation incurs minimum disruption. The new facilities must be open and in full use by 1.3.2021 by the very latest; this is non-negotiable.
