Tender description

The client is the Devizes Assize Court Trust (the Trust), which is Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO) formed in 2018 for the purpose of undertaking the full restoration of the former Assize Court building and its conversion and extension to provide new premises for the Wiltshire Museum. The objects of the charity are for the benefit of the public: — to preserve property and buildings of historic or architectural interest or importance, in particular (but not limited to) in the area of Wiltshire, — to advance the education of the public in the arts, culture and history, in particular through the maintenance of a museum, and — to further such exclusively charitable objects according to the laws of England and Wales as the Trustees in their absolute discretion from time to time determine. https://devizesassizecourt.org.uk/ The Devizes Assize Court Trust (DACT) is seeking tenders for professional services to undertake the project work necessary to design a scheme for the repair, conversion and extension of the former Assize Court in Devizes to provide new accommodation for the Wiltshire Museum. The tender seeks to appoint a principle design team to provide the professional services covering items: RIBA stage 1: Preparation and Brief and; RIBA stage 2: Concept design as outlined in the RIBA plan of work, to include submission/approval of applications for planning permission and listed building consent. Development of the project beyond this stage will depend on securing grants from public and private sources and this will also determine the rate of progress. It is possible that the appointed design team will be employed for the whole project, but this will be for a later decision and will depend on satisfactory performance and on the Trust securing sufficient funds to move to RIBA Stages 3 to 7 (Stage 3 Developed Design; 4 Technical Design; 5 Construction; 6 Handover; and 7 In use). The tender is seeking to appoint a principle professional design team that consists of: — architectural services, — cost consultant, — structural engineering services, — mechanical engineers services.
