Tender description

The Pig Health Scheme monitors English finishing pigs at slaughter for prevalence and severity of specified health conditions. Note: sows and other ages of pigs are not included in this scheme. This scheme is available to all pig levy payers by signing up to the terms and conditions, and sending pigs to be assessed on specified days at each participating abattoir. Individual data can be benchmarked against averages for others within the scheme. The tender is to be split into two parts; training and quality assurance of the scheme (Lot 1) and the physical scoring/assessment (Lot 2). Tenderers are permitted to apply for one or both parts of the tender. Lot 1 is to provide robust training and quality assurance to the scheme. Lot 2 is to provide the scoring/assessment of the pigs at the specified abattoirs.
