Summary of the work Working on an exciting digital transformation programme developing solutions to create accessible, secure-transactional services between businesses and the public sector in Scotland. Development of websites/software and internal tools that meet accessibility standards and work on any device and operating system. Working closely with UX team to deliver against their designs. Specialist role Developer Expected Contract Length 6 months with the option to extend for a further 2, 3 month periods Latest start date Monday 22 April 2019 Maximum Day Rate £550 per day including agency fees and excluding VAT This role is outwith IR35. Who Speclialist Work With Working within an Agile service design, delivery and support team of circa 50 people responsible for digital transformation activities across the organisation. It’s a multidisciplinary team with software developers, testers, designers, user researchers, Dynamics developers, service designers and product owners. The front end developer will work closely within the Service Delivery team with other developers and testers, in particular working closely with UX/UI designers and taking their designs to build the front end of the website(s) and applications. What Specialists Work On The specialist will support the implementation of SE’s digital transformation. Creating websites and applications to support SE’s delivery of services. We have new developments in flight as well legacy websites to migrate over the coming months and a central global design language to drive those developments. Skills & Experience • Experience building web applications using JavaScript (ES6) and Angular. • Knowledge of development build tools - Gulp, Webpack and NPM scripts would be preferential. • Experience building responsive interfaces using CSS and SASS. • Understanding of cross-browser development techniques and limitations • Experience of Web usability patterns and accessibility standards • Understanding of Git, including branching strategies • Basic understanding of .Net, and integrating with Razor templates Nice to Haves • Understanding of Umbraco 7 • Knowledge of scalable CSS methodologies (BEM, OOCSS, and/or SMACSS) • SEO principles and implementation practices • Knowledge of JavaScript testing libraries • Experience consuming REST APIs Work Location Scottish Enterprise 5 Atlantic Quay 150 Brommielaw Glasgow G2 8LU Working Arrangments The supplier is expected to supply a resource to work as part of the team. A core team is based in Glasgow city centre and work standard working hours of 9-5 Mon-Fri. It is expected that the resource would be available for physical meetings and coworking at regular scheduled times but remote working is available as long as delivery is not affected. Security Clearance Baseline Personnel Security Standard level clearance is required for this role. Evaluation Weighting Technical competence 50% Cultural fit 10% Price 40% Questions from Suppliers 1. Is there a current incumbent? Yes there is. 2. Is remote work an option for this at all? If so, how many days are required on site, and how many are viable to work remotely? As long as delivery is not affected remote working is Okay, no set number of days it would be up to the successful delivery partner to determine based on outputs of planning sessions. Access and availability on skype is required to take part in online meetings effectively. It is expected that there will be some requirement for physical meetings and coworking at regular times.
