Doncaster Council wishes to recommission its shared lives service. The primary purpose of this service is to enable service users with varying needs to become part of a family and their local community. This will achieved by the service user living with a host family benefiting from the support of a family and their networks. Doncaster Council wishes to recommission its shared lives service. The primary purpose of this service is to enable service users with varying needs to become part of a family and their local community. Shared Lives is a service regulated by CQC, designed to support service users in developing and sustaining relationships and to be a part of everyday life. Service users are encouraged to learn new skills and broaden their horizons through participating in activities with all the family members. The service user is encouraged to be as independent as possible whilst having a support family in place to support them in managing their own lifestyle and interests. Shared Lives Doncaster will support service users with various disabilities (including learning disabilities, dementia and physical disabilities) through family based support to achieve their own outcomes; becoming a permanent part of a supportive family, rather than entering into institutional care.
