Welfare services not delivered through residential institutions

The participating Councils are looking to secure economies of scale by contracting with one organisation or a consortium/alliance for the provision of advice and information services. Specific requirements will vary between authorities but there are some common requirements which are: — online self-help advice for generic advice and where appropriate specialist areas such as Debt advice and money management, — a telephone advice service to operate as a minimum from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday to Friday. Later evening provision and weekend provision is desirable, — face to face services, either drop-in or by appointment, from specified locations in each participating authority (For details see individual authority requirements), — assisted digital support to access the online self-help from specified locations within each participating authority. Rochdale, Stockport and Trafford Councils are committed to providing high quality, welfare advice services. These services will play an important role in maximising people’s independence and help prevent reliance and dependency on more intensive care and support. Good information and advice (which is current, relevant and accurate) is essential for all who need, or may need support in order to know their rights and to live independently. It should help people make informed choices, enable them to take control and help maintain their abilities, skills and independence well into the future.
