Tender description

The GMC has 2 different requirements for role players, 1 being to support Professional and Linguistic Assessment Board (PLAB) Part 2 exam — Lot 1 and the second being to support Fitness to Practice (FTP) Test of Competence and related pilot events — Lot 2. PLAB Part 2 is for International Medical Graduates. The exam is run in our Clinical Assessment Centre (CAC) located in Manchester. We may, on occasion, need to deliver the exam at alternative locations in the UK and the supplier will be able to demonstrate they can meet this requirement should the need arise. The GMC will run in the region of 170 Part 2 dates in 2020; we are unable to accurately predict the number of days in subsequent years as these vary with demand. Each day we will have two circuits of 18 live stations, requiring a minimum 36 role players. We currently run between 50 and 80 Performance Assessments per year and approximately 25 pilot sessions. On average this involves 16 role players and a Facilitator for each event. The performance assessments are conducted in our Clinical Assessment Centre (CAC) in Manchester. There may be an exceptional requirement to hold an assessment elsewhere in the UK and the supplier must be able to accommodate this. The assessments will include OSCE stations and/or a simulated surgery. Validation events are held at a number of different locations.
