A service that will provide inpatient detoxification and stabilisation for patients suffering from drug and alcohol dependency. This type of service is recommended by the relevant NICE guidelines as part of a pathway of care, and is appropriate when people have complex patterns of drug use (e.g. multiple dependencies) or health problems which would make detoxification in a community setting either unsafe or unlikely to be successful.
