Tender description

The UK's Department for International Development (DFID) intends to provide technical assistance for improving the delivery of skill development initiatives in India. The project plans to upgrade India’s vocational training capacity in selected high demand sectors, resulting in up to 1 000 000 people receiving better training and assessment. This will be delivered through significant international partnerships on skills development and contribute to improving the labour market for Indian and international firms including with the UK institutions. Building on the achievements of the current DFID skills for jobs project, the UK plans to provide further technical assistance over the next 7 years (2018-2022) for a new skill development programme by supporting both public and private entities and building a skills ecosystem that sets standards and regulates quality. The TA will help improve the skills ecosystem in India, propelling both the government led and private sector provision of skills training through sustained capacity building of skilling institutions, evidence based policy making, bringing in best practices, technology and innovation in systems and processes, support for communication, dissemination and stakeholder engagement and through promotion of institutional partnerships. The support is aimed at increasing the effectiveness and inclusiveness of skill development in India particularly through involvement of international agencies (including from the UK).
