UK Shared Business Services Ltd acting on behalf of the Contracting Authority have put in place a contract to provide a nursery services at the Little Star’s Nursery at Science and Technology Facilities Council (STFC), Rutherford Appleton Laboratory. This contract has been awarded under Regulation 32 (2) (a) of the Public Contracts Regulations 2015 (as amended). UK Shared Business Services Ltd acting on behalf of the Contracting Authority have put in place a contract to provide a nursery services at the Little Star’s Nursery at Science and Technology Facilities Council (STFC), Rutherford Appleton Laboratory. UKRI (STFC) is very proud of little stars, its workplace nursery at RAL. The nursery offers its staff an onsite workplace nursery. Under this contract the supplier will provide a high quality childcare provision for its staff and “Little Stars” nursery at STFC RAL: — provide a high standard of physical and emotional care for the nursery children and ensure that the general health, welfare and development is continuously monitored in a happy and secure atmosphere, — by the use of a variety of activities and experiences, resources and high quality interactions, appropriate to individual ages and needs, encourage social, cultural, intellectual and physical skills, and allow nursery children to pursue their own interests. In considering the needs of any child and family, the service provider should have regard to the child’s religious persuasion, racial origin and cultural and linguistic background in line with the Equality Act, 2010, — ensure that the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) statutory framework and development matters requirements are met by working with children and their families to support their development, learning and early language, — encourage the social development of the child through group activities, individual support, listening to children, small group outings, and by consistently taking a strong key person approach, — operate to UKRI — STFC Safety, Health and Environment (SHE) codes and H&S legislation, making each member of staff aware of their responsibilities and, cooperating with regular fire drills and other emergency exercises, — provide relaxed and enjoyable mealtimes for the nursery children offering nutritious and appetising food in a sociable setting, — establish and maintain good links with relevant child health care agencies and the local authority. Ensure staff do not use any physical punishment or practices that humiliate and or frighten children. The supplier also will: — undertake full responsibility for the recruitment, personnel management and career development of nursery staff in accordance with the requirements of legislation, the EYFS statutory framework, OFSTED guidelines and in accordance with the Equality and Diversity Act, 2010, — ensure that nursery staff are aware of professional developments and changing ideas on excellent childcare pedagogy, by means of in service training, staff meetings, etc., — ensure that nursery staff have, or obtain the relevant qualifications, training and experience. Ensure that staff attendance complies with OFSTED requirements as a minimum to ensure that ratios can be maintained and that turnover and the use of temporary staff are kept to the minimum necessary for the smooth running of the nursery. Temporary staff need to comply with right to work legislation, — establish at suitable intervals, nursery staff meetings to review the working of the nursery, reflect on practice and to plan the future programme and provide regular support and supervision of staff, with performance appraisal at regular intervals. Provide cover for nursery and domestic staff during absence due to sick leave, annual leave, maternity leave and training as per statutory requirements of EYFS and OFSTED. This contract has been awarded under Regulation 32 (2) (a) of the Public Contracts Regulations 2015 (as amended).
