System quality assurance assessment and review services

Tender description

The NHS Shared Services Partnership hosted by Velindre are acting on behalf of the Cardiff and Vale University local Health Board who require an annual assessment of all paediatric units in NHS Wales, and triannual site visits to each paediatric diabetes team. This is done via a Peer Review Quality Assurance Programme. All paediatric diabetes units in Wales need to participate in Peer Review Quality Assurance, to fulfill the Welsh Government Diabetes Delivery Plan. In 2017 the RCPCH, in partnership with the National CYP Diabetes Network, developed Diabetes Peer Review measures and set up an assessment system. This was agreed by the National Network for England and Wales. No other peer review options exist since the withdrawal of the DQUINS platform by NHS England. No other organisation responded to the National CYP Diabetes Network's appeal for providers of a Peer Review Service. The CYP Wales Diabetes Network discussed and agreed to participate in the peer review programme. This was supported by Welsh Government as participating in peer review is a requirement of the Diabetes Delivery Plan. Welsh Government did not stipulate participation in the RCPCH programme, but did not provide or propose alternatives as none were available.
