Tender description
A Framework for Waste Management and Recycling Services which complies with all current, relevant legislation. To comply with these regulations, and to maintain our certification to ISO14001, ORE Catapult is seeking to appoint suitably qualified and experienced Contractors to provide high quality services supported by robust management and quality control processes. The Contractor shall be certified to BS EN15713:2009 (Secure Destruction of Confidential Material). The Contractor shall be required to provide suitable secure, lockable containers to hold confidential paper waste and to collect to an agreed regularly scheduled service, from both sites. There may also be requirements for additional collections on an ad-hoc basis for both sites to cover periodic clean-outs or large volumes which may include: • Media (CDs, DVDs etc.) • Branded Uniform & Workwear The Contractor shall be required to provide a reliable, environmentally conscious & legal collection and disposal service in accordance with the Waste Electrical & Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Regulations 2013 (as amended), from both sites. This service shall be required on an as and when required basis only. Equipment to be disposed of under this Lot may include, but shall not be limited to: • IT and telecommunications equipment; • lighting equipment; • electrical and electronic tools; • monitoring and control instruments; • display equipment; and • cooling appliances containing refrigerants The Contractor shall be required to provide industry accredited, professional liquid waste disposal services in accordance with all current, relevant legislation and health & safety guidelines and shall be solely responsible for ensuring they have adequate/appropriate systems/equipment in place to deal with any spillages while carrying out the uplift process. The Contractor shall be required to provide a cost-effective solution for the management of recyclable waste whilst ensuring compliance with regulations and legislation and reducing ORE Catapults impact on the environment. ORE Catapult require the uplift of DMR Materials to an agreed regularly scheduled service. These materials shall include, as a minimum: • Paper • Cardboard • Metal Cans • Plastics ORE Catapult require a reliable, registered skip hire and recycling specialist to provide skip hire services including delivery, collection and final waste disposal. Requirements for hire of skips of various capacities shall be on an ad-hoc basis for either long- or short-term hire periods. Skips shall be required to have the capability and suitability to hold the following items as a minimum: • timber, • mixed domestic, • green waste, • mixed building waste (inert), • occasionally, items for secure burial (photographic evidence of burial may be required) The Contractor shall handle, transport and/or dispose of all special or hazardous wastes in a manner suitable for their nature and potential to pollute or cause harm, taking account of Dangerous Goods Regulations on labelling, containment and security for transport. Examples of hazardous waste that may require to be collected and disposed of includes, but is not limited to: • chemicals, such as printer/copier toner; • batteries (alkaline, lead-acid, ni-cad); • paints & solvents; • Adhesives; • Rags contaminated with oil, paint etc.; • Pesticides; • Non-medicinal Sharps (scalpel blades, stanley knife blades etc.) and • equipment containing ozone depleting substances e.g. fridges ORE Catapult require the services of a reliable contractor to provide a comprehensive metal disposal service. Requirements for collection & disposal of waste metal(s) shall be on an ad-hoc basis. The Contractor shall be solely responsible for ensuring they have adequate/appropriate systems/equipment in place to deal with the safe collection and disposal of all metal waste from ORE Catapult site(s).
