Tender description
The HSE intends to enter into a consortium with approximately 25 other public and private enterprises to engage with Skillnet Ireland (https://www.skillnetireland.ie/) in a partnership led by the University of Limerick (http://www.ul.ie/), UCD (https://www.ucd.ie/), and Maynooth University (https://www.maynoothuniversity.ie/) which will run for 7 years starting in September 2019 with 30 students entering each year for 4 years to complete their PhD. The aim is to build a high-value talent pipeline in Ireland in the foundations of data science with an emphasis on training students with the underpinning applied mathematics and statistics skills for areas critical to Irish companies such as artificial intelligence, data analytics, machine learning, autonomous systems, health and digital manufacturing. This is a 7-year plan with most of the funding coming from Science Foundation Ireland (http://www.sfi.ie/) under their recent call for “Centres of Research and Training”.
