Tender description

To deliver improvements to Rockbourne Youth Centre, in order to be suitable for its current use as a community and youth centre, as an after school club provision for local schoolchildren, and a “Short Breaks Hub” that will allow for the care of children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) while away from their parents (on a short term non-residential basis). The client (CYP) have specified the key works that are required to bring the site up to specification and enable it to be both suitable for educational delivery, but also a safe space for the children to use with the appropriate Equalities Act provisions for those children requiring additional support. The intention is to deliver the works in a phased approach, working around the existing users in an attempt to keep disruption to a minimum, ensure adequate health and safety and site segregation during works to be delivered. This is an excellent opportunity to provide an innovative and creative solution within an inner city youth centre provision, with high profile local stakeholders including councillors and local groups. The service/works will include, but is not limited to: — refurbishment of existing kitchen and associated spaces, — refurbishment of toilets, — refurbishment of existing office space, — refurbishment to existing main hall and also the separate sports hall, — creation of new secure site entrances on boundary and to main building, — creation of “reception” space and refurbishment of “IT room”, — addition of storage as required, — improvements to existing M&E on the building, — external landscaping works to ensure safe play for all service users, — increased external boundary height to avoid “escapees”, and improve security, — data and power as required, linked to the rest of the site (as required), — any associated requirements to ensure the building is fit for purpose as a civic building, in line with the specification of service and scope provided within the tender documentation. It is expected that the successful tenderer will begin provision of the service(s) at the beginning of June 2019, to be completed by the commencement of the school summer holidays.
