Toxic waste disposal services except radioactive waste and contaminated soil

The University of Birmingham has a requirement to establish a contract for the delivery of hazardous waste management services across the campus. The University currently has an annual spend in excess of 50 000 GBP for the removal of hazardous waste and this expenditure is likely to increase as additional scientific research projects are secured and undertaken. In the period July 2017 to June 2018 the University produced over 1 300 items of hazardous waste (excludes bulk battery collections) which were then removed through 38 consigned collections after consolidation to about 800 containers including 205 litre, 120 litre, 50 litre, 30 litre and 20 litre drums. To provide a service to dispose of materials arising from teaching and research, and the support of these activities, which are covered by the Hazardous Waste Regulations 2005/894 and subsequent amendments.
