Tender description

Scope of service: the rail industry seeks to work with those in mental health or suicide prevention fields to reduce the number of suicides on the rail network in Great Britain and support those that may be traumatised by them. It is believed that this can best be achieved by: — equipping staff and passengers with skills to support vulnerable people, — providing expertise and support to railway practitioners in the suicide prevention field, — reaching out to high-risk groups through national campaigns and community interaction, — preventing access to means or influencing decision making on the suicide journey, — both literal and metaphorical, — promoting help seeking behaviours amongst high-risk groups, — monitoring media reporting and social media channels, — working with government and local authorities to prevent suicide in the wider community, — commissioning bespoke research into rail suicide. We envision a 5-year contract following a Call for competition using either the Negotiated or Restricted Procedure under the Utility Contracts Regulations 2016.
