Healthy Living Project - Rugby (Weight Management)

Tender description

Through this grant agreement work was carried out to: • Scope other gender specific men’s weight management programmes • Capture insight from fans to tailor intervention delivery • Deliver an effective men’s weight management programme (based on proposed weight loss outcomes in NICE guidance PH53) • Deliver a range of maintenance activities including physical activity opportunities and social events • Develop a number of recommendations to work towards developing a health promoting environment at the stadium • Develop and deliver a nutrition project to pilot test interventions to tackle the unhealthy eating environment in community clubs This grant agreement comes to an end in March 2019, and a review has taken place to explore effectiveness and make recommendations. A new contract will be written with; • A greater focus on delivering the weight management programme in areas of greatest need as well as Emerald Headingley Stadium • Strengthened partnership working with Primary Care to maximise resources and avoid duplication with other weight management providers i.e. One You Leeds • Further actions to utilise the learning from the Nutrition Project to make changes to the stadium environment • Greater utilisation of the Leeds Rhinos website to promote and support the weight management programme Keywords: Weight, Exercise, Men's health
