Construction work for buildings relating to health and social services, for crematoriums and public conveniences

Tender description

The new Crematorium site will provide a landscape, which the public will find peaceful and attractive. It will be divided to provide a mix of features including: — areas for cremated remains, — peaceful garden areas to fit in with a woodland walk to the burial grounds, — a traditional lawn burial area, — a separate children’s burial area. Construction of a new crematorium, administration building, landscaping and cemetery areas. The scheme achieved planning in February 2019 and the Design team have produced a design up to stage 4. Upon completion of the pre-qualification progress, the tender list is due for confirmation in April 2019 with tender release May 2019. Contract will be let as a design and build contract. The scope for the Crematorium project is expected to include the following elements: Crematorium building containing: — circular chapel area with additional balcony providing circa 120 seated capacity, — welcome/waiting area, — crematory hall with capacity for 2 no cremators, — viewing room, — office areas. Administration building containing: — an office space for the cemetery officer to receive visitors and handle administrative work, — fully accessible toilet facilities, — a reception area incorporating a waiting room, — café areas for general visitors, — function space for post-burial/cremation events, — gathering shelter, — minimal, low-impact outside lighting to pathways and external fixtures. External works to include: — roads, paths and paving, — water features to and around the crematorium building, — soft landscaping, planting and irrigation systems, — external fixtures — to include street furniture and equipment, — ornamental features including reflective pools, — external drainage system.
