Tender description

The London Borough of Newham wishes to re-procure its dementia community memory support service. We expect our re procurement activity to take place from April 2019, with the new contract commencing January 2020. The proposed service will provide support to people with dementia and their family carers: To address the need for support post-diagnosis of dementia, To provide easy access, following diagnosis, to care, support and advice facilitated by a dementia advisor. To support people from early onset dementia and those from underrepresented communities by facilitating their engagement with mainstream services. The service will work in partnership to ensure effective multi-agency working in order for the customers to receives a coordinated approach to support. The service consist of the following strands: Dementia Advisors (DAs), Memory Lane Cafes, Young Onset Dementia (YODA and Singing for the Brain (SftB): — The DA service: is delivered based within Newham Memory Clinic to establish a direct link with consultant psychiatrist and attend weekly allocation meetings. The DA provides social support, weekly face to face contact including home visits. — memory cafés: are half day drop-in sessions run in a community setting. These have now been increased from 2 days to 3 days per month, — Singing for the Brain’(SftB) is a service based on use of singing to enable people with dementia and their carers to express themselves and socialise with others in a supportive environment. This service is offering 2 sessions per month. — Young Onset Dementia (YODA) – service directly.
