Tender description

The awarding authority is introducing FIT (Faecal Immunochemical Testing) to replace the current card based FOB (Faecal Occult Blood test) and is looking for a supplier to provide faecal immunochemical testing analysers, consumables and associated maintenance. Currently the service offers bowel screening to all resident men and women in Wales aged between 60 and 74 years of age. Approximately 300 000 participant kits are sent out annually with a participant uptake of 52 % resulting in 156 000 returned completed kits of which 1 750 participants are referred to health boards for a colonoscopy. The introduction of FIT will provide participants with an easier to use sample taking kit. It will replace the current card based manual sight test with an automated generated result test. This change is following UK National Screening Committee recommendation and Welsh Government. The procurement is being run to look options for outright purchase of equipment and as a full managed service contract. Bowel Screening Wales is looking for a provider who will be able to provide the analysers, consumables, reagents, training, servicing and maintenance (please note that this is not an exhaustive list). The contract will be let a 3-year period with an option to extend for a further period of up to 24 months (reviewed annually).
