Tender description
Who Speclialist Work With Primarily with members of the IT Service Creation teams in the DVLA. What Specialists Work On A specialist is required to undertake development work on the DVLA's Central Vehicles Management System. Work includes technical analysis, low level design, production and unit code using CA GEN. Work will entail UNIX scripting for data extraction and data management as well as working with complex batch scheduling systems. The specialist will be allocated to specific projects including, but not limited to, changes to the calculation and collection of Vehicle Excise Duty and also making other technical changes in accordance with business requirements and technical solutions. Requirements and technical solutions will be supported by DVLA Business Analysts and Technical Architects. Where the Work Takes Place DVLA, Morriston Campus, Longview Road, Morriston, Swansea, SA6 7JL Early Market Engagement Working Arrangements The nature of the work dictates the location. Access to the necessary tooling is only available onsite. A standard working week/hours is to be managed by the Supplier as they see as appropriate. Work Location DVLA, Morriston Campus, Longview Road, Morriston, Swansea, SA6 7JL Security Clearance BPSS clearance is required, if SC clearance is required through the duration of the contract the DVLA will sponsor. Additional T&Cs We currently see this role as sitting outside of IR35 as the candidate would not hold a fixed office position, and will not have direct day to day direction or supervision. Skills & Experience Provide evidence of development in CA GEN in a UNIX Environment, demonstrating a minimum of 10 years' experience. Provide evidence and experience of using SQL with an Oracle (or equivalent) database, demonstrating a minimum of 10 years' experience. Provide evidence of using Oracle's PL/SQL demonstrating a minimum of 3 years' experience. Provide evidence of UNIX Shell scripting, demonstrating a minimum of 5 years' experience. Provide evidence of batch scheduling in a UNIX environment demonstrating a minimum of 5 years’ experience. Nice to Haves Provide evidence of GEN development specifically on an AIX (IBM) platform demonstrating a minimum of 2 years’ experience. No. of Specialists to Evaluate 10 Cultural Fit Criteria Be able to collaborate effectively with people of all seniorities and job types demonstrating a minimum of 1 example. Engaging with in-house staff and creating an environment of knowledge-sharing demonstrating a minimum of 1 example. Assessment Method Evaluation Weighting Technical competence 70% Cultural fit 10% Price 20% Questions from Suppliers Budget range £600 per day inclusive of t+s.
