Tender description

EirGrid has a requirement for system services, with additional over frequency response provision, provided on a high availability basis. These services will be important in the management of the system, and in particular the management of significant frequency events, as levels of non-synchronous renewable generation increase. Successful providers will be able to provide very fast reserves, sustained for at least 20 minutes, with high availability.The procurement of these services is called “Volume Capped”, referencing the limited volume EirGrid will procure. The contracts awarded will provide payments for a fixed term, this being up to 8 years. All candidates who meet the selection criteria will be invited to submit a tender. The design and procurement process for these arrangements are approved by the SEM Committee following extensive industry consultation. Candidates should review the relevant SEM Committee decision papers (i.e. SEM-17-080, SEM-18-049) and the associated TSO Recommendation papers. All Candidates who meet the selection criteria will be invited to submit a tender.
