Tender description
Sheffield Hallam University are looking to contract with a provider of an integrated software streaming platform to deliver virtualised applications to the workstations: on and off the campus via a portal. The requirement is to deliver virtualised applications to Windows workstations managed by the university and personal devices on and off the university campus locations. A large proportion of the university's current software holdings must be able to be virtualised and delivered via a unique web portal. An additional requirement is to have the ability to launch applications via the portal. That are installed locally or delivered via the University's SCCM service. The portal must be able to display only those applications that users are authorised or licensed to run. In order to comply with licensing requirements it must also have the ability to determine: — if the workstation is on or off campus and — if the workstation is managed by the university or personally owned by the user. Applications must be able to be restricted down to individual user or workstation. Users must not require local administrator rights in order to launch the service or applications. Management of application assignment to users and workstations must be via Active Directory (AD) groups and users must have single sign on enabled for their AD user codes. The service must be scalable to deliver applications to over 11 000 workstations and nearly 40 000 individual users. The service should be capable of providing customisable reporting for both usage of applications and license consumption. Applications must be delivered only to hardware that can support them, so hardware inventory and analysis must be available. The service must run on existing equipment and infrastructure, and must enable deployment of current versions of software. The service must have capability to launch applications hosted on Remote Desktop Session Host servers as a windowed application via the web portal, so that users of other OS platforms such as Mac OS and Chromebooks can access applications running on a Windows platform.
