Tender description

The East and North Hertfordshire NHS Trust is an acute NHS trust providing a wide range of emergency and inpatient services at its main site, the Lister Hospital in Stevenage, with outpatient and diagnostic care provided at Hertford County Hospital, the Lister and the New QEII Hospital in Welwyn Garden City. The trust also runs the Mount Vernon Cancer Centre, one of the country’s top 5 cancer treatment centres, which provides specialist radiotherapy services along with chemotherapy for local people. The trust is looking for a partner able to provide a 24 hour per day, 365 day per year security service to maintain a secure environment at the Lister Hospital, as well as providing an alarm response at the Hertford County Hospital site. The New QEII and the Mount Vernon Cancer Centre will not form part of the proposed contract. The key objectives of the successful provider are to: a) Provide a security service to ensure the safety and security of all patients, staff and bona fide visitors to the site; b) Provide a high profile and visible service that creates a safe and secure environment; c) Provide professional integrated security services on a scheduled and reactive basis, which are efficient, effective and timely; d) Maintain the safety of all persons on the site. This includes the protection of patients, staff, service providers and visitors against violent acts or abuse; e) Protect the site and property of the trust, staff, patients and visitors against theft, vandalism, malicious tampering and criminal damage; f) Ensure only bona fide visitors are allowed access to the sites. This includes restricting access of undesirable persons to the sites in general and restricting access to sensitive areas to authorised personnel only g) Contribute to creating a pro-security culture within the trust; h) Comply with and enforce the trust’s policies as appropriate; i) Deter smoking anywhere other than designated smoking shelters; j) Undertake or assist in investigation as directed by the LSMS.
