Replacement and Installation of Cross Aisle Awnings for Norwich Market

Tender description

Norwich City Council (NCC) wishes to deliver a phased programme to replace 34 cross aisle roof awnings located on Norwich Market in the city of Norwich, NR2 1NA, which have now surpassed their life expectancy. Works will include the removal and disposal of the current awnings and the supply and installation of a completely new awning system with associated means to control the opening and retraction of the awnings. The new awning system can operate using existing frames. The contractor should satisfy themselves that the existing equipment is suitable for re-use of their proposed awning system. Norwich Market is a historic and iconic landmark in Norwich City Centre with striking striped roofs. It is laid out in a grid with 180 stalls laid out in 45 quads of four. We have eight aisles running from top to bottom which have permanently covered rigid canopies in place and four cross aisles with retractable canopies. The cross-aisle canopies are particularly important as they give the market an open and inviting feel.
