SOJ-DFI-T Haulage of Waste Visual Display Equipment (VDE)

Tender description

DfI requires a Contractor to Haul waste Visual Display Equipment (VDE) generated in Jersey. WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment) contain hazardous components and substances and therefore are classified as hazardous waste. Hazardous wastes are subject to the Waste Management (Jersey) Law 2005, however as the Services are to be carried out outside Jersey (which is not the EU), Tenderers will also need to comply with the requirement of the Transfrontier Shipment regulations (TFS) regarding the recycling and disposal of WEEE. Tenderers will also have to adhere to the requirements of any other relevant legislation; e.g. carriage of hazardous waste and duty care and/or any other relevant national or local legislation and regulatory guidance. The Authority receives VDE from the public and businesses at the local household and commercial recycling centre located at La Collette Reclamation Site, St Helier, Jersey (the Site). The level of service required will be based on the quantity (tonnage) of VDE arising at the Site. The Term will commence in July 2018 (subject to the approval of the TFS application) for a period of 12 months (or one TFS) with a possible extension of two additional TFS, subject to satisfactory of the Services.
