Wakefield Council is commencing a procurement process to identify an organisation to manage the Council allotments. As part of this this process the Council is carrying out preliminary market consultation to ensure that the proposed scope of the project is both feasible and commercial viable. The Council is inviting prospective tenderers to provide comments on the scope and specification. Comments will be considered as the Council prepares tender documentation for the upcoming procurement process. Wakefield Council is commencing a procurement process to identify an organisation to manage the Council allotments. As part of this this process the Council is carrying out preliminary market consultation to ensure that the proposed scope of the project is both feasible and commercial viable. Allotment Community Right to Challenge (CRC): A local organisation submitted a CRC application in respect of the management of Council allotments. Under CRC legislation the Council is undertaking a procurement process to identify if there is any market interest and capacity to take on the management of allotments which are the responsibility of the Council to a standard not less than that already provided by the Council. Should there be a successful tender process arising from the challenge then the management of allotments will transfer to the successful bidder. The Council will retain ownership of the land and be responsible for monitoring of the contract put in place to deliver the allotment service. Wakefield Council has the strategic and management responsibilities for 70 allotment sites. Following investigations of the land ownership for each of these sites it has been deemed that approximately 52 of these sites are to be included in the procurement process. The remaining sites are outside the scope of the procurement process as they are under the management of other bodies. The Council is inviting prospective tenderers to provide comments on the scope and specification. Comments will be considered as the Council prepares tender documentation for the upcoming procurement process.
