Tender description

The Council is wishing to engage with suppliers for 3 potential requirements. 1.Town Centre Buildings. 2. Wireless public space network. 3. Perimeter defence. This piece of work will focus on the end of service life access layer network in the Town Centre Buildings, refresh of the WLAN across the whole of the Corporate LAN, and integration into the Council’s campus LAN core and data centre networks. The Council envisages the replacement LAN will have a considerably smaller access layer interface count when compared to the current network, as only a small number of devices will require a physical connection. The Council wishes to provide members of the public with access to the internet and local resources such as printing in prime Council owned public space. The Council has already provisioned public access in a selection of community buildings around the borough. This requirement is specifically concerned with the replacement of the current public access solution, but the Council would like to ensure there is sufficient capacity in whatever solution is taken forward to provision the remaining public access buildings. Self registration and content filtering are key requirements. The Council has a range of perimeter defence firewall devices that are approaching end of service and require replacement. A solution is required offering coordination in respect of management of recommended replacement products. Integration with existing architecture and the Town Centre Buildings as detailed in requirement 1 is a prime consideration. In particular, the Council would like to operate a resilient internet service providing load sharing and resilience in respect of buildings, and service providers.
