LJMU have opted to place a PIN for this requirement to enable us to explore the market to ascertain what is available. The PIN is not a call for competition, it is simply a mechanism for us to engage with potential suppliers and research solutions that may be suitable for the University’s needs. This RFI is a Request for Information regarding indicative pricing and the technical scope across a range of options. After the closing date for the RFI submissions has passed, LJMU will consider the information collated, and then determine next steps which will be: — No further action — the project is not viable, or — Submit an internal business case to determine if there is budget and resource available to embark on the project. If the business case is approved then the requirement will be fully tendered, — If the case is declined then there will be no further action. Therefore this RFI document outlines the high level requirements for a shared storage system to replace our existing shared. Requirement Overview LJMU Screen School operate an equipment hire store for a user base of around 700 students. The store contains over 1 000 items across at least 20 categories. Student users book the equipment online and technical staff fulfill their orders on collection. Our existing system was designed for booking rooms, rather than equipment, and lacks the necessary flexibility to meet the needs of our rapidly expanding operation. At this stage, we are considering responses from vendors who can provide either an onsite (capex) or software-as-a-service (opex) solutions.
