Tender description

The purpose of this PIN is to give advance notice that West Sussex County Council (WSCC) will shortly be issuing tenders relating to services of deceased persons where a death has been referred to H.M. Coroner including: — mortuary & post mortem facilities, — pathology services, — body removals, — body storage. Contracts are expected to commence on 23.1.2019 and run for a period of 7 years with the option to extend by a further 7 years subject to satisfactory services and continued demand. A market engagement day has been arranged as follows: Date: 5.3.2018 Time: to be arranged with interested suppliers Venue: West Sussex County Council, County Hall North, Chartway, Horsham, West Sussex, RH12 1XA. This is an opportunity to understand supplier's ability & appetite to provide all or part of these services. We would like to draw on the ideas and expertise of suppliers to discuss what is being proposed prior to producing a specification and going out to tender. Please note that nonattendance to the market engagement day will not disqualify suppliers from participating in any future related tendering exercise. Service 1 — Mortuary & Post Mortem Facilities – This contract will be to provide public mortuary & post mortem facilities within the Coroner's jurisdictional area where bodies can be stored and accessed as is deemed appropriate for the effective running of the Coroners service. The mortuary should be appropriately equipped and able to meet anticipated demand and include the facilities necessary to conduct post mortem services. Service 2 - Pathology services – This contract will be to provide suitably qualified Pathologist and/or support staff to conduct all Post Mortem examinations as directed by the Coroner of West Sussex. The services will include post mortem reports to H.M. Coroner. All Pathologists to be approved by HM Senior Coroner. Service 3 — Body removals 1 This contract will be to provide a rapid and effective response when called upon by H.M. Coroner, or officers acting on his behalf, to remove a body from the place of death in the county and transporting it directly to the coroners designated public mortuary. Service 4 — Body storage — This contract will be for the storage of bodies in the county that either do not require a post mortem or for overflow where the coroners designated public mortuaries are not available.
