Eurostar services at Ashford: Options for Enhanced Ashford – Brussels service with Ashford Spurs project delivered Kent County Council (KCC) is tendering for a consultancy to assist with the following project. The context is the revised Eurostar timetable with the Ashford Spurs project delivered and the full Eurostar service to/from Paris restored. The planned launch date for the Ashford Spurs project is 3 April. Prior to our planned meeting in May with the new CEO of Eurostar and political representatives from Ashford BC and KCC, we require: (1) An analysis of the Eurostar working timetable to determine which of the existing diagrams would be suitable to create an additional stop at Ashford on an existing afternoon/early evening journey from London to Brussels, and an additional stop at Ashford on an existing morning journey from Brussels to London, to apply on Mondays to Saturdays in both directions. The presumption is that all Brussels workings would be with Class e320 stock, for which Ashford will of course be complaint; (2) An analysis of the likely marginal costs versus marginal revenue generated, so that we can demonstrate to Eurostar our belief that a single additional stop on this route in each direction would cover its marginal costs. You may judge it reasonable to slightly reduce our generally accepted figure of an average of 45 passengers boarding or alighting at Ashford on Brussels services, to reflect the probable spread of demand that is currently focused on a single journey each way.
