Tender description

Central Bedfordshire Council wishes to secure the delivery and operation of a care home for older people on the site of the former Leighton Buzzard Police Station in Hockliffe Road, Leighton Buzzard. The Council owns the freehold of the site and intends to dispose of the freehold to a suitable organisation (the Buyer) with a development agreement that will require the Buyer to construct (or secure the construction of) and operate a residential care or nursing home for older people on that site within 2 years. The Buyer will be required to join the Council’s contractual arrangements for the provision of care home places and is required to provide up to 30 places to allow for the closure of a 30-place care home owned and operated by the Council. The supply of these places shall be on the terms and conditions supplied as part of the tender package. In addition, there is a requirement for the provision of a day space area which could accommodate a day care facility for non-residents. Purchase of land at Hockliffe Road, Leighton Buzzard (UK) and for the construction and operation of an older persons residential care or nursing home with day care provision on the site.
