Go Cycle - Active Travel Hubs Consultancy

The Go Cycle (mini-Hollands) project wish to assess the need for, and practicality of, providing bike hubs in the Borough. Consistent with the Healthy Streets initiative, the Borough should also be exploring active travel hubs as well as bike hubs. Active Bike Hubs provide facilities for both pedestrians and cyclists and expand on the idea of bike hubs. The hubs could encourage modal shift and increase active travel and exercise amongst those who currently do not regularly use sustainable transport but it also raises operational questions on how they would work and at what cost. The active travel hubs programme is planned to be delivered over six phases: • The first three phases comprise consultancy studies to assess the feasibility of bike hubs and active travel hubs. • The following phases are dependent on the outcome of the consultancy studies and concern the procurement, installation and operation of off-the-shelf bike and active travel hubs in the borough.
