NHSBT currently use a PK7300 primary blood grouping machine. Connection is via reinforced PVC hose of internal diameter (bore) 12 mm, and external diameter 18 mm. The water supply should be as close as possible to the analyser, to minimise the growth of organisms in the hose. There must be a shut off valve and waste drain port within 7 m of the instrument and the hose for water supply and waste must be shorter than 7 meters.
