Women’s Centre and Female Offender Accommodation

Barnsley Metropolitan Borough Council is looking to enter into an agreement with a Registered Social Housing Provider for the provision of a women’s centre with accommodation for female offenders who have been victims of domestic abuse. The Provider will have proven track record of delivering similar elsewhere. The women’s centre will be located within Barnsley Metropolitan Borough and should enhance the locality in which it is based as well as being easily accessible for public transport. The Council will require full access to any property or land acquisition negotiations and will advise on the suitability of any proposal. The agreement will enable the provision of grant funding up to £250,000 (two hundred and fifty thousand pounds) to be used towards the acquisition and/or refurbishment of premises suitable to host the centre. The Provider will be expected to provide or secure funding to support the project specifically in relation to the accommodation. Keywords: domestic abuse, women, centre, accomodation
