North Tyneside Council (the Authority) is currently considering options to deliver both the waste disposal and materials recovery facility. To assist the Authority in its choice of the most effective way to deliver the services the views of the market are being sought. Information regarding interest can be found within the Additional Information within this notice. North Tyneside Council (the Authority) is currently considering options regarding its municipal waste collection and recycling contracts. The Authority currently has 2 major contracts relating to waste disposal and provision and operation of a materials recovery facility. The Authority wishes to explore market interest in both contracts (either jointly or separately). Waste Disposal The Authority is seeking a dialogue with potential suppliers regarding options for the design, delivery and operation of a facility capable of disposal of waste generated within the borough. The Authority currently produces circa 45 000 tonnes per annum of residual municipal waste. The Authority seeks to discuss contract duration, costs, exclusivity of waste and minimum tonnages with interested parties. The current contract value is approximately 6 500 000 GBP per annum. The current contract will expire in April 2022. It is likely any resulting contract will be for a duration of between 10 and 25 years. Materials Recovery Facility The Authority is seeking a dialogue with potential suppliers regarding options to receive and sort collected recyclable materials. This will include the onward transmissions of the material to suitably licensed merchants or re-processors. The Authority seeks to discuss contract duration, pricing methodologies and composition of waste with interested parties. The current contract value is approximately 350 000 GBP per annum. The current contract will expire in September 2019. It is likely any resulting contract will be for a duration of between 3 and 25 years.
