The Discipline of Surgery has for many years engaged in multi-gene molecular profiling of biological samples. This requires a fast, real-time PCR machine capable of analysing multiple samples or gene targets at the same time. As part of a clinical trial which has been ongoing since 2011 we analyse multiple molecular targets across repeated timepoints in numerous patient samples. We previously used the Applied Biosystems 7900 High Throughput machine (purchased in 2008). This instrument is now out of order and its manufacture discontinued. We need a real time PCR instrument that can perform Taqman Low Density Arrays (TLDA) programmes as well as 96 well PCR plates (for gene expression and SNP genotyping) so that we can continue our research and clinical trials in the same manner as with our previous instrument.
