The service will focus on early intervention and prevention and provide support and activities that will positively impact on people’s mental health and wellbeing, reduce health inequalities and improve wider outcomes for communities at risk from poor mental health by building community capital and individual mental resilience. The range of support will include provision such as one to one support, structured group work, complimentary therapies, activities, peer support, befriending and volunteering. This will include the development of self-help groups and support to ensure they become self-sustaining. The service will also deliver cross tenure housing related support to individuals with low level mental ill health and learning difficulties which may negatively impact on their ability to live independently. It is intended that the provision will be preventative, time limited, and focused on those who are not eligible for statutory services via a Care Act assessment. The Service will also be expected to address the stigma and discrimination of mental illness by raising awareness of how and why stigma affects people accessing services and feeling unable to seek help.
